Q&A with Blogger Rachel Klein from Petite Rachelle

Blogger and stylist, Rachel Klein, sat down with Cotton to talk clothing, social media and her style inspirations.

You walked away from over four years in the entertainment industry to pursue your dream of having your own fashion blog – that’s brave! What inspired you to do so?

Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, I was always inspired by the idea of being my own boss and starting my own venture. While I was working in TV, I started doing some styling jobs on the side and I found it brought me so much joy. I loved looking at fashion blogs and helping my friends style themselves, so I decided I was going to take a major leap and start petiterachelle.com! With anything in life, I was motivated by the mantra “if not now, when?” so now was the answer.

What keeps you motivated? Where do you go or what do you do when you’re in need of inspiration?

I am definitely motivated and inspired by the hustle and bustle of New York City and all the amazing style I see everyday. I think New Yorkers are some of the most creative and inspiring people around, so sometimes all it takes is a walk through a different neighborhood to get my ideas flowing. I’m also motivated by the desire to help people realize that fashion can be fun! It doesn’t have to be stressful or overwhelming.

What is your style motto?

Comfort is key!

Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Snapchat?

Instagram! @petiterachelle :)

What is your favorite item of clothing?

That is definitely a hard question! My favorite item changes from season to season, but for this winter it’s definitely big comfy sweaters. They are the perfect layering piece for staying cozy but also looking fashionable. I’m also a big fan of winter hats and always have my favorite cotton beanies in tow.

Who are your go-to designers, brands or stores?

For online shopping I love ASOS. They always carry the current trends, but for a wide variety of budgets and sizes. When working with clients I often direct them to ASOS because they really have items to suit everyone. I’m also a huge fan of the store Aritzia. Sometimes the items are slightly more expensive, but I find that whatever I buy there always becomes a staple piece that transcends trends and lasts for years.

Who are your favorite aspirational designers, brands or stores?

I’m currently crushing on all things Stuart Weitzman! I think he knows how to make a women feel extra special and understands the power of shoes to really make an outfit. I don’t own any pairs yet, but maybe I’ll make owning a pair part of my wishes for the New Year. I also love the brand Reformation. Their philosophy is all about making sustainable fashion which is definitely important to me. Plus, their designs are always unique and beautiful.

How does fabric choice play a role in your life and job?

Fabric choice plays a huge role in my life and job. I firmly believe that if we don’t feel good in our clothing then we won’t look good in them either. I always want to feel comfortable in what I’m wearing and that often comes down to the fabric choice.

What’s next for Petite Rachelle?

I just launched my personal styling services which I am so excited about! I love sharing my fashion musings and inspirations on my blog, but I really want to help other people enhance and explore their own personal style as well. With my personal styling services, I want to help people realize that fashion can be a great form of self expression, and be comfortable too!
