Giving Back with Cotton

Giving back can go beyond donating and volunteering - many charitable companies today have adopted business models that allow them to give back every time you shop. Doing good while looking good? We’re in!

It’s Random Act of Kindness Week this week (really!), and we’ve rounded up our favorite cotton-friendly brands that give back to their community. Check them out below!

Blue Jeans Go Green™

Cotton’s own initiative, the Blue Jeans Go Green™ program takes your old denim and upcycles it into UltraTouch™ Denim Insulation, diverting it from landfills and helping with building efforts in communities across the country. Better yet, Madewell stores nationwide will take your denim contribution and give you a $20-off coupon toward your next pair of jeans! What’s not to love?

Bombas

Bombas is a one-for-one company - because socks are the #1 requested clothing item at shelters, every purchase of one pair of socks results in the donation of one pair of socks to homeless shelters and disadvantaged communities. Over 850,000 socks have been donated to date, and with their incredible durability, extreme comfort, and charming designs, we’re totally not surprised!

TOMS®

The one-stop shop for all things canvas, TOMS® is another company with a one-for-one corporate policy: for every pair of shoes you buy, a pair of shoes is donated to a child in the third world. To date, over 50 million pairs of shoes have been donated in over 70 countries. The company has since also expanded into canvas bags, for which each purchase goes to ensure a safe birth for one mother and baby.

The Company Store

A cozy comforter is a home essential, especially through the winter. But thousands of homeless children nationwide suffer through the cold without it. The Company Store, partnering with nonprofit Family Promise®, now matches each purchase of a comforter with a donation of one to a homeless child in the United States. Sleep easy and warm knowing your new bedroom addition is helping someone in need.

Yellow Bird Project

That awesome band tee just got a major upgrade. Yellow Bird Project teams up with your favorite bands to design 100% cotton t-shirts, and all profits from each design go to that band’s chosen charity. YBP’s partners include Bon Iver, CHVRCHES, The National, and many, many more amazing artists. So show some love for your favorite musicians while spreading the love to those in need!
