Spring Denim Trends: Cotton Jumpsuits, High-Rise Jeans, and Colored Denim

Woman standing outside wearing denim jeans and cute top for spring

If there’s one fabric that never goes out of style no matter the season, it’s denim. It’s the classic, quintessential American fabric that’s endlessly customizable for every clothing category, whether it’s jeans, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, and more: the list goes on and on. Denim can be dressed up for fancy occasions, dressed down for every day, and can even be perfect for a business-casual workplace, with the right styling.

Denim has a long and interesting history, and it all started with cotton. True denim is made with 100% cotton and nothing else—though we may make an exception for a little bit of stretch. We’ve found the perfect blend of denim for style and comfort is 98% cotton and 2% stretch, but some kinds of denim, like straight-leg jeans or skirts, look best in 100% cotton.

This spring sees denim customized in even more new ways. Embroidered denim is out, and jeans with zipper details are in. Also out are skinny jeans in favor of wide-leg trousers, paper-bag waists, and colored denim. That’s right: pastel jeans are officially back. Also back in style are raw hems, two-tone denim, and cropped jean jackets. And of course, it goes without saying that ultra-high rise jeans are still in fashion. We got rid of all our hip-huggers for a reason.

Spring denim trends, at the end of the day, are all about personal style and what works for you. Whether you prefer dark wash or light, classic blue jeans or bright pink ones, these spring styles will blend easily into your existing wardrobe. Here are some spring denim selections and how to wear them.

Can't decide on a wash? With the two-tone trend you don't have to choose. We love this funky new way of wearing denim and think it's easy to style for day or night. A striped cotton tee would look great for day, while a black tank makes a great simple night look.
