Madewell Makes Recycling Your Old Denim Easy With Blue Jeans Go Green™

WHAT IS BLUE JEANS GO GREEN™?

Letting go of your old favorite jeans just got a little easier with the the Blue Jeans Go Green™ program. With Blue Jeans Go Green™, denim waste is being transformed into denim insulation, not only diverting it from landfills (Americans send 10.5 million tons of clothing to landfills every year) but also helping with building efforts for communities across the US.

Over the last 10 years over 1.4 million pieces of denim have been collected, 600+ tons of denim has been diverted from landfills and 2+ million square feet of denim insulation has been generated. It’s now easier than ever to recycle your denim with the amazing Blue Jeans Go Green™ retail partner, Madewell.

Madewell x Blue Jeans Go Green

Since the launch of the Madewell x Blue Jeans Go Green™ partnership in 2014, Madewell has collected over 70,000 pairs of jeans that have been upcycled into housing insulation.  In 2015, a traveling Madewell denim recycling station hit the streets of NYC and later traveled to Los Angeles. This fall, it will be popping up in six new cities across the country during the Madewell Denim Forever Tour. Recycling stations will be set up outside Madewell stores. Bring an old pair of jeans to be recycled and you will receive $20-off your next pair of jeans at the store.

If you happen to live near one of the Denim Forever Tour stops, come by for:

-Live denim monogramming & custom chain stitching by Ft. Lonesome

-Denim customization with limited-edition pins from Pintrill

-Live music by indie-pop band Freedom Fry

And of course, a place for you to drop off your jeans.
