Cotton Twill

| What is cotton twill?

Cotton twill is a popular weave pattern that’s characterized by diagonal lines on the face of the fabric. Cotton twill results in a sturdy fabric—in fact, denim, chino, gabardine, and drill are all types of twill fabric that you’ll recognize as popular pants’ material. Denim and chino in particular make for durable, high-quality pants and trousers. And of course, denim is the fabric of the classic American blue jean.

Twill is a plain-weave fabric that dates to ancient times. The yarns are packed very closely together, resulting in that strong, thick fabric you know. This heavyweight weave is perfect for pants, jeans, and jackets.

When should I wear twill?

Twill fabric is suitable for pants and jeans throughout the year, and for durable jackets in the fall and winter. Lighter weight twill can also be found in neckties and spring dresses.

Twill vs Denim

Twill refers to a wide range of fabrics with the same weave pattern. Basically, all denim is twill, but not all twill is denim!

| Maintaining twill

Twill is known for being durable and easy to maintain. It’s often preferred for construction workers because of its durability and because it hides dirt.

Does twill wrinkle?

Twill does not wrinkle easily. Often, a quick steam or a low tumble dry is enough to smooth any wrinkles on your twill clothing.

Is twill easy to clean?

100% cotton twill and its variations (denim, chino, gabardine) are easy to spot clean as well as machine-wash.
