Fleece
| What is fleece?
Fleece is a soft, fuzzy fabric made to keep you warm! The word fleece comes from the comparison to the fleecy wool of a sheep, although today’s typical fleece comes in a variety of fibers.
Fleece fabrics can come in both stretchy knits or stable wovens, both having a napped thick raised pile. While some fleece today is made with polyester, fleece fabrics made with cotton fiber content are better for the environment. Cotton rich fleece is also breathable while keeping you warm.
| When should I wear fleece?
Fleece is perfect for cold weather and the winter months, due to its dense fabric construction and fuzzy touch. You’ll find fleece hoodies, jackets, pullovers, gloves, hats, scarves, and earmuffs, and in the lining of leggings. We also love fleece-lined boots, coats, and even blankets! Because fleece is often made with polyester and other synthetic fibers, make sure you check the label for cotton when shopping for your cozy winter wardrobe.
| Maintaining fleece:
Cotton fleece fabrics are easy to maintain, and just get better with age.
Does fleece wrinkle?
Knit fleece is extremely wrinkle resistant! The knit construction and bulk of the fleece helps keep wrinkles at bay.
Is fleece easy to clean?
Cotton rich fleece is easy to clean and maintain, with a home wash and tumble dry.
