What's That Smell?
The Science of Odor and How to Tackle It.
Warm weather is upon us. Now is the time when you need a breathable fabric that’s durable and easy to care for. Cotton is with you countless moments throughout the day. Clorox® Regular-Bleach2 is there to help keep your clothes looking brighter and smelling fresh.

Odor Build Up Occurs When:

Fabrics catch smells in the environment

Bacteria and sweat transfer to fabrics, generating odor within the fabric

Fabric absorbs odors produced by our bodies

The Facts
- Polyester fibers tend to encourage and retain odor-causing bacteria and, since polyester typically repels water, those odors can be harder to remove. Choose non-synthetic fibers like cotton, which tend to produce and trap fewer odors in the first place and release odors more easily during washing.
- Add Clorox® Regular-Bleach2 to not only remove tough stains and keep whites brighter longer, but sanitize laundry to kill bacteria, which cause odor.
Care Tip
How to Remove Stains and Odors
Clorox® Regular-Bleach2 has a legacy of fighting stains and odor by sanitizing every load of your bleachable laundry. To whiten cotton or bleachable fabrics with Clorox® Bleach:
1) Sort laundry by color and add detergent.
2) Fill bleach to maximum line or level in dispenser OR add measured amount of bleach to dispenser or wash water. Use 1/2 cup for standard machine or high-efficiency machine wash* or 1 cup for extra-large washer or heavy stains or soiled load of laundry.
3) Ensure contact with bleach solutions for 10 minutes.
4) Add clothes and start wash.
*If sanitizing laundry, use 2/3 cup of bleach for standard machines and 1/3 cup for high-efficiency machines.
